Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum

"Once around is never enough" at this museum celebrating the history of carrousel, band organ and amusement ride production on the Niagara Frontier. Located in the historic Allan Herschell Company factory building, the museum houses exhibits, wood carving demonstrations, two antique carrousels to ride, a children’s gallery and gift shop.

North Tonawanda History Museum

A research and educational institution, this is the museum of the heritage of North Tonawanda and its role as an important shipping and manufacturing center strategically located on the historic Erie Canal and Niagara River in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Museum hosts guided and self-guided history walks and tours, publications, and events throughout the year.

The Museum of the Historical Society of the Tonawandas

The museum was built in 1886 as a station for the NY Central & Hudson River Railroad. Displays reflect the days of the lumber era and the Erie Canal. A research center as well, it contains more than 6,000 indexed photos and indexed obituaries from 1877 on.

Long Homestead

The restored home of Benjamin and Mary Hershey Long, originally of Lancaster County , PA, was built in 1892. Constructed of virgin black walnut and white oak timber hand-hewn from trees cut down on the site, it reflects the influence of the Pennsylvania Dutch. Furnishings are of the Empire and Early Victorian periods.

Tonawanda Armory

Originally built to house the 25th Separate Company NY National Guard, the fortresslike brick and stone structure was formally opened on February 22, 1897. Today, it is privately owned and available for event rental. Tours available.

The Riviera Theatre

The historic Riviera Theatre is a completely restored silent movie house with a fully functional "Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ." Still operational today screening movies, hosting live stage presentations and conducting tours of the workings of an old-time theatre, it is the only theatre in the US to present a regularly-scheduled monthly organ concert and has done so for more than 30 years, the third Wednesday of every month.

Railroad Museum of the Niagara Frontier

This former Erie Railroad station has been restored for museum purposes. The brick structure served the community for more than 60 years under the Erie Railroad, Erie-Lackawanna Railway and finally Conrail. In addition to the building, there are two cabooses and two locomotives. The most recent acquisition came from the Tonawanda Island Railroad which served the local industry.

Carnegie Art Center

Dedicated to bringing a variety of arts programming to the Tonawandas, the center is located in a former Carnegie Library building, listed on the National Register.
